Cuisine at Motueka River Lodge

Motueka River LodgeHolidays are made for exploring, dreaming, reconnecting with the natural environment, developing new tastes for local gourmet fare, discovering how a community creatively interprets itself – in short, holidays are made for getting inspired all over again.

Nelson offers plenty

Art and wine are frequently served up together in stunning wineries and tasting studios. There are many galleries tucked away in remote locations throughout Nelson and Golden Bay.

Abel Tasman National Park offers world renown sea kayaking, bush walking, sailing and scenic tours to view native fur seals. Walk the coastal track in 3-5 days or we can arrange water transport so you can walk from bay to bay and be picked up to meet transport connections. Highly recommended.

Kahurangi National Park, extreme mountain biking, back country hiking and botanic tours. Kahurangi National Park encompasses ‘The Heaphy Track’ which is 82km and is designated one of New Zealand’s Great Walks by the Department of Conservation.

Nelson Lakes National Park: set amongst regenerating native forest. Two glacial lakes form a beautiful focal point for the quaint township of St. Arnaud. This is also a protected forest where New Zealand’s iconic Kiwi Bird has been re-introduced into the wild.

Trout fishing - Rainbow and Brown trout are in abundance in our local rivers and lakes.  Sporting enthusiasts and fly fishermen have long known the secret of our local rivers due to our carefully managed game and wildlife habitat.

The Motueka River Lodge has become well known in these circles.  And it does help having the very best guides in New Zealand!

Farewell Spit - drive through the beautiful Golden Bay to the world’s largest naturally occurring sand spit.  Home to a number of migratory birds, this is a world renowned protected bird sanctuary.
